Advancing Women's Economic Empowerment

Digital Entrepreneurship

AgriSense Africa is an agricultural technology venture helping smallholder farmers make informed decisions through data, digital tools, and precision farming practices. By combining artificial intelligence, climate data, and mobile technology, the platform provides farmers with actionable insights on crop management, pest control, irrigation, and harvest planning.

The venture was developed to address one of Africa’s most pressing challenges—low agricultural productivity caused by limited access to timely and accurate information. Through localized recommendations and predictive analytics, AgriSense enables farmers to reduce risks, improve yields, and increase profitability.

Today, AgriSense is working with farmer groups, cooperatives, and agricultural stakeholders to build more resilient and sustainable food systems across the region.

The Challenge

Many women entrepreneurs face barriers to accessing business development resources, digital skills, and professional networks necessary for enterprise growth.

The Intervention

Through the Women Entrepreneurship & Digital Skills (WEDS) program, participants received training in digital tools, business management, financial literacy, and entrepreneurial leadership. The program also connected women entrepreneurs with mentors and peer-learning networks that supported business growth.

The Outcome

Participants improved their digital capabilities, strengthened their business operations, and expanded their customer reach through online platforms. Several women successfully formalized and scaled their enterprises while creating additional income opportunities within their communities.

Impact

  • Increased digital literacy among women entrepreneurs
  • Improved business performance and sustainability
  • Expanded market access through digital channels
  • Enhanced economic empowerment and leadership
